Privacy

Last updated 12 October 2026. This page covers the confused_dev games and this website, published by Pifer Labs LLC. Pifer Labs also publishes NatMap, which has user accounts and its own privacy policy; nothing on this page describes NatMap. Where a game needs a notice of its own it has one: St. Grimsby’s Thaumaturgical, which asks for a microphone, is covered in detail on its own page.

The short version

Our games do not ask who you are. They have no accounts and no sign-in. We do not sell data, and we do not use advertising networks or third-party trackers. The one thing a game sends anywhere is a record of a purchase, which is confirmed through RevenueCat under a random id with no name attached.

What this website collects

This site counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics, run by the company that hosts it. It sets no cookies and builds no profile that follows you from site to site. Each view is recorded with the page address, the site you arrived from, a rough location (country, region, city) and your device, browser and operating system. Repeat visits inside a day are counted using a hash of the request rather than anything stored on your device, and that is discarded after 24 hours. What reaches us is totals, not people. Vercel’s privacy documentation lists every value it stores.

What stays on your device

Your save files, settings and progress are written to your own device by the game and are not sent to us. Deleting the game removes them.

What the stores tell us

When you buy or download a game through Apple’s App Store, Google Play or Steam, that store handles the purchase and gives us aggregate reports: how many copies sold in a country, how many people played, crash counts. We cannot identify an individual player from them. The store’s own privacy policy governs what it collects from you: see Apple’s privacy policy, Google’s privacy policy and Valve’s privacy policy.

Purchases

When you buy the full game on iPhone, iPad or Android, the game sends a record of that purchase (the store’s receipt or purchase token, the product and its price) to RevenueCat, a service that keeps track of purchases for us, under a random id the game makes on your device. It has no name, email or account attached. We use it to know the purchase is real and to count sales and refunds. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy. Ask us and we will delete the record on our side.

Multiplayer

Where one of our games has online play, it connects players directly to a host that one of you runs. Your IP address is visible to that host for the length of the session, as it is with any online game, and voice chat is carried between players rather than recorded by us. For St. Grimsby’s Thaumaturgical this is confirmed and set out in full on its own page: a direct connection to the host, or Steam’s Datagram Relay when Steam carries the session. [TODO: confirm for the other games. If any game ever moves to dedicated servers or a matchmaking service, rewrite this section rather than amending it.]

If you email us

We keep your message and address so we can reply and, where it is a bug report, fix the thing you told us about. Ask us to delete it and we will.

Children

Our games are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, export or delete information a company holds about you. Since we hold almost nothing, the usual answer is quick. Write to us and we will deal with it.

Changes

If this page changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the website.
